February Wetter and Milder Than Average

Armagh Observatory reports that February was much wetter and milder and somewhat sunnier than average. The total precipitation for the month was 100.8 mm (3.97 inches), that is, over 70% wetter than average.

The number of hours of sunshine was 74.6, that is, about 15% more than the monthly average.

The mean monthly temperature was 6.9 degrees Celsius (44.3 degrees Fahrenheit), that is, 2.7 degrees C milder than the average. The maximum temperature was 14.0 degrees C on the 23rd, and the lowest air temperature was -0.5 C on 28th. There were 12 nights with grass frost and one with air frost.

These data refer to observations at Armagh Observatory, which has been recording the weather at Armagh since 1795.
