Hi all,

1. Tue, 1 Nov, 7.00pm, RTE2 TV: The next megaquakes -  how prepared are we?

2. Thu, 3 Nov, 9.00am, BBC R4: In Our Time - Melvyn  Bragg and guests discuss 
asteroids (repeat 9.30pm).
4.30pm, BBC R4: The Material World - alien abduction  experiences.
8.00pm, RTE R1: The Quantum Leap -  Mary Mulvihill reports on the latest 
science stories. (This should include the  interview with Prof Mike Baillie, which 
I originally thought would be last  week)
9.00pm, BBC R4: Leading Edge  - exercising in  space.

3. Wed 2 Nov: Irish Astronomical Association: Public Meeting. Astronomical  
Quiz: "Who wants to be an astronomical Centenaire?" Real money prizes to be won 
 - up to 100! Similar format to the wll-known TV quiz show. 7.30 p.m., 
Lecture  Theatre 5, Stranmillis College, Stranmillis Road, Belfast.  I've got some  
great questions for the lucky contestants! Admisison free. All  welcome.....


4.  2-19 Nov. at Dublin's Project Theatre: Luca, a play about time travel and 
other  things by Veronica Coburn.

5.  MARS: On 30 Oct, Mars made its closest  approach to Earth for the next 13 
years, but it doesn't reach actual Opposition  until 7 November, and is well 
placed for observing for another couple of  weeks. Astronomers are observing a 
big dust storm now taking place on the  planet.  The next IAA public 
"MarsWatch" will be at the Ulster  Folk & Transport Museum, Cultra, in the lower car 
park, on Friday 4  November, at 8 p.m. Let's hope for better weather than last
