Hi all,

Hope you're surviving the storm which is building up quite noisily as I

TV programmes:

1. Horizon, Thursday 13th, BBC2, 21.00 - 21.50 "Global Dimming" looking at
atmospheric pollution effects / global warming.

2. "Mission to Titan", Friday 14th, BBC2, 23.30 - 24.30: Live Coverage (we
hope) of the landing/splashdown of the Huyghens probe on Titan.

3. Irish Astronomical Association (IAA): "KIDS/FAMILY ASTRODAY, +
ASTRO-IMAGING", Saturday 15th, 09.45 to about 16.00; St Patrick's High School,
Ballinderry Road, Lisburn. Something for everyone! Admission free.

4. The next IAA meeting will be on TUESDAY 25 January, (not the usual Wed),
at Stranmillis College as usuual. We will be honoured by a special visit from
leading ESA astronaut Andre Kuiper, not long returned from the ISS. Thanks to
Robert Hill from Armagh Planetarium for facilitating this.

5. Don't forget the Connaught Star Party on Sat 29 January: details:

6. The IAA has arranged a special trip to John Nooney's amazing observatory
complex at Clonkill, near Mullingar, on Saturday 9 April. This event is
particularly for all IAA members South of the border, who can't get to our meetings
in Belfast, but is open to all members. More details later, but note the date
in your diary. Spaces are limited to a max of 40, & it will be first come first
served for actual paid-up bookings!

7. The IAA has been asked to run another public
observing/talks/display/planetarium event at Carnfunnock Country Park, near Larne, in the Spring. The only
available date left is Saturday 16 April, the night after our similar event at
MountStewart, near Newtownards! It's great to be so popular.... Both events
will start about 8 p.m.; more details of each closer to the time, but note the
dates in your diary.

Clear, and calmer, skies to all!
